U.S. Representative Abigail Spanberger this week hosted an open, public telephone town hall focused on issues facing Central Virginia families, businesses, healthcare providers, schools, and more. During the town hall, Spanberger was joined by Virginia Secretary of Health and Human Resources Dr. Daniel Carey to answer questions directly from Central Virginians about the range of healthcare and economic issues facing the Seventh District. Spanberger and Carey discussed constituent concerns related to COVID-19 vaccines, ongoing COVID-19 relief discussions in Congress, unemployment assistance, broadband internet access, and several additional topics. As we head toward the holidays, my office continues to receive hundreds of requests for assistance related to healthcare, hunger, housing, and unemployment concerns. This pandemic has brought hardships and uncertainty to every community here in Virginia and there remains a dire need for Congress to deliver immediate, much-needed relief to the American people, said Spanberger. This week's town hall was an important opportunity to hear directly from Central Virginians about their current concerns related to the wellbeing of their families, their businesses, and our Commonwealth. I'd like to thank Secretary Carey for bringing his expertise and his insight to this event, and I'll keep fighting to protect our most vulnerable neighbors, keep our healthcare workers safe, and provide some degree of peace of mind to our small businesses in the face of this ongoing crisis. Wednesday's telephone town hall was Spanberger's 10th free, public telephone town hall since the COVID-19 pandemic began.
