The funding is a $7 million increase over the $400 million announced earlier this year. This funding will support Amkor’s investment of approximately $2 billion and 2,000 jobs in a greenfield project in Peoria, Arizona, which will provide full end-to-end advanced packaging for the world’s most advanced semiconductors for applications in high-performance computing, AI, communications, and automotive end markets. It has been standard for American semiconductor companies to ship their product overseas for packaging—now they will be able to package and test their essential chips domestically, enabling the full cycle of chip manufacturing to occur within the United States. “Arizona companies continue to dominate America’s semiconductor industry.
