Today, Congressman Pete Stauber (MN-08) and Congressman Jared Golden (ME-02) introduced legislation to ensure the infrastructure of fire stations across the nation allow firefighters to efficiently and safely perform their jobs. The Fire Station Infrastructure Safety Act would direct the U.S. Fire Administration to create a report on the age and conditions of every fire station across the nation, so Congress can make more informed decisions in regard to infrastructure investments. Of his legislation, Congressman Stauber said, In times of crisis, our nation's heroic firefighters are first on the scene, ready to help and oftentimes, willing to put their own lives in danger to save others. As a former law enforcement officer, I remain committed to ensuring the men and women who serve and protect our communities every day are adequately equipped to perform their jobs and return home safely, and I know this legislation will help do just that. Congressman Golden said, From the full-time professionals to the volunteers, firefighters all over Maine go above and beyond for their communities. We must honor their service and keep them safe by making sure they have the equipment and facilities they need to do their jobs.
