These funds were made available through the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022. “Recently, I’ve heard concerning local reports of mail not being delivered because carriers are spending the majority of their day delivering third-party packages, carriers not being paid for the actual time it takes them to complete their route, and high staff turnover due to unfair working conditions. Sadly, thanks to a policy enacted by the Biden Administration, the USPS is more focused on spending billions of dollars on a new fleet of electric vehicles instead of training and paying its employees properly. Given the issues plaguing the USPS coupled with the unreliability of electric vehicles in cold weather climates, I believe these funds must be better spent. That’s why I am proud to introduce the MAIL Act to require the USPS to redirect the $3 billion in funding to better support rural carriers and customers.” 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-07T21:11:47Z
