Today, during debate on the House Floor, a motion was made to bring up three additional funding bills for consideration, including Congressman Stauber's police reform funding bill. The motion was blocked on a party line vote of 227-169. Following this vote, Congressman Stauber stated, "It is unfortunate House Democrats have once again blocked my efforts to bring police reform legislation to the Floor. As the American people continue to suffer from this health crisis and subsequent economic disaster, they also continue to call for justice for their fellow Americans. We are back in Washington, D.C. after seven weeks, and not one item on the Speaker's agenda is an answer to the American people's call nor provides them with relief. I am disappointed with this blatant display of partisanship. Both sides of the aisle must get back to work to deliver results and relief for the American people." BACKGROUND: As a former Duluth police officer, Congressman Stauber has led bipartisan police reform efforts in the House of Representatives by introducing the JUSTICE Act.
