The winning team was led by Sakun Chitraacharige and Mika Sudhir, two students from Seminole High School in Sanford, Fla. Chitraacharige and Sudhir worked alongside two friends from Colorado and California to create Fulcra. Fulcra is an online micro-blogging software application designed to empower people suffering from mental illness or any form of abuseincluding substance, physical, and mental abuseto speak up by giving them a medium to discuss their experiences freely. The team will now have the opportunity to travel to Washington, D.C. next spring to showcase their app to Members of Congress and the tech community. The Congressional App Challenge is part of a national effort tosupport and encourage education in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math). I am so proud of these students for using their talents and passion to tackle issues as important as mental health and substanceabuse,Murphy said. Sakun, Mika, and their incredible team have bright futures ahead of them.
