Strong (AL-05) will host a Military Service and Academy Day on August 17 for high school students interested in military service or attending one of the U.S. service academies. "The fact that so many North Alabamians willingly answer the call to serve our nation in uniform speaks volumes of the patriotism held by our district’s youth. It is my honor to nominate young men and women to attend U.S. service academies and ensure students are aware of the many avenues to military service,” said Representative Dale W. Strong. The second annual Strong Military Service and Academy Day will take place on Saturday, August 17 from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm at the Huntsville High School Gymnasium. The event will include academy representatives from the U.S. Military Academy West Point, Naval Academy, Air Force Academy, Coast Guard Academy, and the Marine Merchant Academy; recruiters with the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Space Force, and Coast Guard; and representatives from various university ROTC Programs across the state. In his first year in Congress, Rep. Strong had one of the highest acceptance rates for West Point appointees in the U.S. Congress. To attend a military service academy, students must meet certain eligibility requirements and receive a nomination from a Member of Congress, the Vice President, or the President. Students interested in receiving a nomination from Congressman Strong are encouraged to attend. More information on the nomination process will be provided at the event and can be found HERE.
