Strong (AL-05) voted in favor of the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act. The bill requires documentation of citizenship to register to vote. It also requires states to remove non-citizens from voter rolls. “The Biden-Harris Administration’s disastrous border policies have allowed over 10 million illegal aliens to pour across our border. American citizens should be the only ones that determine our elections,” said Congressman Dale W. Strong. It is currently against the law for illegal immigrants to vote in federal elections, but with no proof of citizenship required for voter registration, the law is easily broken. Several states, including Alabama, have found non-citizens on voter rolls. Alabama’s Secretary of State, Wes Allen, found 3,251 non-citizens who were registered to vote, 742 in North Alabama. Just this month, an undocumented woman living in North Alabama pled guilty to false claims of citizenship in connection to voting, using a fake identity to register to vote in Alabama in the 2016 and 2020 primary and general elections. “We must take steps to secure our elections and ensure that participation in our elections is reserved for American citizens and American citizens only.
