Summer Lee Statement on Vote Against Budget Fueling Republican Healthcare Crisis 2025-11-12 2025 2025-11 Democrat House PA Summer L. Lee L000602 summerlee.house.gov summerlee https://summerlee.house.gov/newsroom/press-releases scraper WASHINGTON, DC – NOVEMBER 12, 2025 — Today, Congresswoman Summer L. Lee (PA-12) issued the following statement on her vote against the Republican continuing resolution that does nothing to stop healthcare costs from skyrocketing for 24 million Americans. “After enduring the pain of the longest government shutdown in U.S. history, millions of working Americans are seeing their healthcare premiums skyrocket. This was avoidable. For weeks, House Democrats have pushed Republicans to return to the negotiating table to address this healthcare crisis of their own making and reopen the government so federal workers can receive their paychecks, benefits like SNAP can resume, and programs like Head Start and LIHEAP can continue without disruption. There is nothing in this bill that guarantees healthcare subsidies will be voted on and passed. “The American people want a government that serves them and a Democratic party that fights for them, especially at a time when we face rising authoritarianism and overburdening costs. I could not in good faith support capitulating to false promises that will hurt people in the long run. We live in the wealthiest country on the planet and should not have to choose between healthcare over any other essential need." 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T19:52:45Z
