Lees Provision to Support Residential Clean Energy Systems | 2020-09-24 | 2020 | 2020-09 | Democrat | House | NV | Susie Lee | L000590 | susielee.house.gov | legacy | Washington, D.C. U.S. Rep. Susie Lee (Nev.-03) helped pass theClean Economy Jobs and Innovation Act, which would makelong-overdue reforms to U.S. energy policy and authorize major investments in the transition to a low-carbon future. Included in this billisan amendment that is similar to legislation introduced by Rep. Lee, which wouldhelp improve andstreamline permitting processes for residential clean energy systems. These systems include rooftop solar, small wind power, residential battery storage, hydrogen fuel cells, and level two electric vehicle charging. As our country reels from the devastation caused by the pandemic and natural disasters, particularly the fires out West, it's clear we should not have to choose between economic growth and protecting our planet, said Rep. Lee. It's long past time to address climate change, and this bill gets America back on track by reducing our carbon footprint and making a long-term investment in clean energy. My bill, which simplifies solar energy permitting, was included in this package. As a result, more households and businesses will be able to access affordable opportunities to make the switch to solar. Southern Nevada has led the way in solar energy development and installation, and I'm going to make sure that continues.
