Susie Lee's amendment to address the housing affordability crisis in southern Nevada and across the country. Rep. Lee's amendment would direct the Department of the Treasury and the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to combat the housing crisis in America by creating an interagency working group. This working group would be required to produce two reports a year, including recommendations on housing affordability and supply. These entities would also testify before the Committee on Financial Services following each report to discuss the state of housing in the United States. "Everywhere I go, across the valley, I hear from constituents who are struggling to make ends meet and, far too often, that's because of rising housing prices," said Rep. Susie Lee. "Las Vegas rent prices have jumped an average of 27 percent over the last year. Meanwhile, families are also facing rising gas and grocery prices, straining budgets even further. My amendment will combat this crisis by directing the Treasury Department and the Department of Housing and Urban Development to assemble an interagency working group to tackle rising housing prices head-on."
