Susie Lee (NV-03) applauded Deputy Secretary of the Interior Tommy Beaudreau's announcement that the Department of the Interior (DOI) will invest more than $5.9 million in FY22 funding from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law in Nevada to support wildfire resiliency projects on 14,655 acres of land across the state. This funding will strengthen wildland fire management by increasing fuels treatment in areas with high wildfire hazard potential to protect homes and businesses in the wildland-urban interface and public drinking water, all while promoting climate resiliency. "We are at a critical moment as drought continues to afflict the West and exacerbates the threat of wildfires in Nevada," said Rep. Lee. "I am proud to have voted to pass the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to deliver this funding for Nevadans and advance wildfire resilience work across our state." Rep. Lee voted for the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to secure vital funding to fight the effects of climate change in Nevada and provide $1.5 billion to DOI's Wildland Fire Management Program. Additionally, Rep. Lee voted to pass the Wildfire Response and Drought Resiliency Act, which included five of her bills to combat drought, out of the House in July to provide much-needed investments to enhance drought resiliency and protect communities against catastrophic wildfires.
