Lee Helps Pass COVID-19 Aid Package, Urges Both Parties to Come Together to Secure Relief 2020-10-01 2020 2020-10 Democrat House NV Susie Lee L000590 susielee.house.gov     legacy Washington, D.C. U.S. Rep. Susie Lee (Nev.-03) released the following statementon theongoing COVID-19 pandemic relief negotiations, shortly after she helped the House pass anupdated version of the Heroes Act, which includes key relief she secured for Nevada's stage, aviation, and restaurant workers: The pandemic has hit Nevada's economy the hardest, as shown by the fact that we have the country's worst unemployment rate at 13.2 percent. This is because the current crisis has devastated the primary pillar of Nevada's economy: the travel and tourism industry. It's not just our casino and hotel staff taking a hit, but also our restaurant and convention workers, our entertainment and stage workers, and our aviation workers. The latest proposal in the House, which we passed tonight, includes relief for these Nevadansrelief that I fought for. But let's be clear: that relief doesn't matter if it's not signed into law. As a member of the bipartisan Problem Solvers Caucus, I'm proud that our bipartisan COVID-19 relief proposal helped restart negotiations. I urge negotiators to take that spirit of bipartisanship with them and bring forward a final, bipartisan package that puts party and politics aside in favor of what's best for the American people. I also urge senators of both parties to set politics aside and get this deal across the finish line. There's simply no alternative. BACKGROUND:On Sept. 15, 2020, Rep. Lee joined the bipartisan Problem Solvers Caucus (PSC)which includes 25 Democrats and 25 Republicans, including Rep. Leeto unveil theMarch to Common Groundframework to help break the gridlock on the latest COVID-19 relief package and encourage negotiators to get back to the table. Shortly after the Problem Solvers Caucus announced its proposal, bipartisan negotiations around COVID-19 relief resumed. The updated Heroes Actincludes the followingCOVID-19 relief priorities forNevada: Over $4.7 billion in funding for Nevada's state and local governments; Targeted support for restaurant, aviation, and entertainment workers; $225 billion for schools; Second round of stimulus checks for families; $600 per week in federal unemployment aid; $71 billion in rent and mortgage assistance; Paycheck Protection Program enhancements to support the hardest-hit small businesses; 14 percentage point boost to Medicaid funding for states; $7.6 billion for Community Health Centers; and $75 billion for COVID-19 testing and tracing. ### 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
