Susie Lee Meets with Constituents, Adoptive Family at National Adoption Month Event 2019-11-13 2019 2019-11 Democrat House NV Susie Lee L000590 susielee.house.gov     legacy Washington, D.C. U.S.Rep. Susie Lee (Nev.-03)attended the 15thAnnual Adoptive Family Portrait Project in celebration of National Adoption Month. The Project is put on byVoice for Adoption,an adoption and foster care advocacy non-profit organization. The Project's purpose is to celebrate families who have adopted children from foster care, and educate members of Congress and the public on the importance of supporting adoption and helping children in the foster care system. Rep. Lee met with theManbeckfamily, residents of Nevada's 3rdCongressional District. While the whole family did not make the trip out, Rep. Lee was able to speak with JennaManbeckand two of her five children, pictured above. Adoption is one of the most generous acts of love that a family can make, said Rep. Lee. There are thousands of childrenin the foster care system looking for parents, for siblings, and for a family to love and grow with. TheManbecksclearly have so much love to give, and I'm thankful they chose to open their home to Trust, Jordyn, and Selena. I hope that they and other families like them can serve as an example to hopeful parents that adoption is a real option for starting or growing your family. As we continue to advocate for the thousands of children in the foster care system, we must face the sad reality that not all children will find a family before their 18thbirthday. I will do all I can in Congress to advocate for adoption, improve the foster care system, and support the children growing up in foster care. TheManbecks: In 2016, Jenna and ChadManbeckbegan exploring adoption. My husband Chad and I towards the end of 2016 started feeling like maybe we were to add to our family, said Ms.Manbeck. We had two healthy boys and always thought our family seemed complete' up to that point. We started feeling like we had more love to give and didn't really know what that looked like. Their search led them to the Adoption Exchange, an organization that connects children in the foster care system with families who are interested in adoption. They were connected with 3 young children in foster care, all siblings: Trust, Jordyn, and Selena. On May 23, 2019, Trust, Jordan, and Selena officially became part of theManbeckfamily, joining Jenna, Chad, and their two biological sons, Luke and Ethan. To say it's been easy would be a lie,Ms.Manbeckcontinued. It has been one of the most challenging things we've ever done in our lives, but we were right. We did have more love to give! We've all lived together now 14 months and we are still learning and growing. Every day gets a little easier and I know soon enough we won't remember life without them! So, now my husband and I are proud parents to Luke, age 13; Jordyn, age 12; Trust, age 11; Ethan, age 10; and Selena, age 5. Our hearts and our house are full! ### 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
