The funding, awarded to Oriana House, supports the Akron Municipal Recovery Court and the Summit County Turning Point Collaborative Drug Court Program, which serve individuals with mental illnesses or substance abuse disorders who come into contact with the justice system. "Programs that support individuals with mental illness in the criminal justice system are essential for breaking the cycle of incarceration and promoting recovery. Investing $400,000 to expand programs like Summit County's Valor Court to support veterans and the PIVOT Drug Court to support individuals with substance abuse issues creates a more just and humane system that prioritizes rehabilitation and reintegration into society," said Rep.
