The Janus Program is the Army’s next generation nuclear power initiative designed to provide secure, resilient, and reliable energy for defense installations and critical military missions. Through the program, Fort Drum was selected to receive a 1-megawatt commercial microreactor developed by Westinghouse Government Services. The Army is partnering with the Defense Innovation Unit and private industry to invest $2.2 billion for private sector companies to own, construct, and deploy commercially viable microreactors while accelerating the development of advanced American nuclear technology.
