Upon passage, Rep. Thompson released the following statement: “This year’s National Defense Authorization Act makes a substantial investment in personnel, equipping warfighters with the tools and resources necessary to counter rapidly developing global threats, while ensuring continued deterrence from America’s foreign adversaries. “With a focus on our brave men and women in uniform, I am especially pleased with the inclusion of the Military Housing Transparency and Accountability Act, a bill I authored to ensure all military families have access to safe, affordable, and functional housing.” The Military Housing Transparency and Accountability Act expands access to a centralized assessment tool for members of the Armed Forces and their families to identify, rate, and compare housing options. NDAA Highlights: Provides a 14.5% pay raise for junior enlisted and a 4.5% pay raise for service members, including the 28,900 service members in Pennsylvania. Helps Pennsylvania’s military spouses attain and retain employment by making it easier to transfer professional licenses between states when families are transferred to a new base, codifying programs to provide employment support, and authorizing the ability to fill open civilian positions with qualified military spouses.
