This funding will allow the department to hire additional firefighters, which will strengthen response capabilities and help keep Belmont residents safe.” “On behalf of Belmont Mayor Joe Jordan and Belmont City Council, we sincerely thank Congressman Tim Moore for supporting the Belmont Fire Department’s SAFER grant application,”said Alex Hardee, Deputy Fire Chief of the Belmont Fire Department. “This grant will provide three operational positions that are paramount to Belmont’s public safety initiatives.” Over the past three years, the Belmont Fire Department has experienced a roughly 70% increase in call volume. Despite these increasing demands, the department continues to operate with limited staffing.
