Representative Scott Tipton (CO-03) released the following statement after the vote: Coloradans are tired of receiving anonymous phone calls and feel helpless that there isn't enough being done to stop the malpractice. Without the ability to trace the source the origin of robocalls, connecting with a real person is nearly impossible, making it difficult to put an end to receiving these types of calls. This bill is an important part of the House's recent efforts to combat spoofing, misleading phone calls and other scammers' efforts to steal personal information from Americans. Background: The TRACED Act would allow the FCC to fine spoofing violators up to $10,000 per violation, and larger violations for any holders of FCC licenses or authorizations. Creates a third-party consortium that would track suspected illegal robocalls back to their origin. Establishes an advisory committee to focus on protecting hospitals and emergency rooms from illegal robocalls. The Senate cleared the bill in May of this year on a vote of 97-1. The House also passed another bill aimed to cease robocalls, H.R. 3375, the Stopping Bad Robocalls Act, in July 2019. ### 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
