https://titus.house.gov/press-releases/rep-titus-announces-239998-grant-for-unlv-talent-search-program Rep. Titus Announces $239,998 Grant for UNLV Talent Search Program 2016-09-29 2016 2016-09 Democrat House NV Dina Titus T000468 titus.house.gov     legacy September 29, 2016 Contact: Kyle Roerink Phone: 202-657-3219 Washington D.C.—Today Rep. Dina Titus of Nevada’s First Congressional District announced the U.S. Department of Education will award the University of Nevada Las Vegas a $239,998 grant to encourage and assist Clark County School District students from disadvantaged backgrounds to pursue post-secondary education.  UNLV will coordinate the effort with four CCSD schools: Chaparral High School, Eldorado High School, O’Callaghan Middle School, and Woodbury Middle School. The program will provide academic, career, and financial counseling to its participants and encourage students to graduate from high school and complete post-secondary education. “As a long-time professor, I know the value of providing counseling and support to students from all walks of life,” Rep. Titus said. “I applaud the Department of Education, UNLV, and CCSD for embarking on a partnership that will offer more opportunities for Southern Nevada students to develop their leadership skills and succeed in their educational pursuits.”    BACKGROUND: The program will last for five years and annually receive similar amounts of funding. The program publicizes the availability of financial aid and assists participants with the post-secondary application process. Talent Search also encourages people who have not completed education programs at the secondary or post-secondary level to enter or re-enter and complete post-secondary education. 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
