Titus Statement on President Trump Walking Away from Coronavirus Relief Negotiations 2020-10-06 2020 2020-10 Democrat Senate NV Dina Titus T000468 titus.house.gov     legacy October 6, 2020 Las Vegas, NV Today Representative Dina Titus of Nevada's First Congressional District released the following statement after President Trump announced his intention to walk away from coronavirus relief negotiations: The most important thing we can do to bring about an economic recovery is to get this virus under control, said Congresswoman Titus (NV-1). That's why the compromise relief bill we just passed in the House dedicates over $100 billion for a nationwide testing and tracing system and safe and effective vaccine distribution. We have tried desperately to restore the $600 per week federal unemployment assistance, provide a new round of direct payments to Americans, and offer mortgage and rental assistance. Countless jobs at local restaurants and in the live entertainment industry could be saved if President Trump were willing to work with us to pass a relief bill into law. It is unconscionable that President Trump announced his intention to stop negotiating on a relief bill until after Election Day. People in Las Vegas are hurting right now through no fault of their own and they simply cannot afford to wait. Every day that goes by while President Trump stands in the way of a deal is another day that lives and jobs will be lost that could have been saved. We've proven that Las Vegas is a resilient city many times and we will do so once again, but we cannot do it alone. 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
