Titus, local veterans and military members.  The workshop will focus on resume building, transition of military skills, federal job applications, and job interviews. The workshop is part of a larger effort in the community to create more employment opportunities for Nevada’s 7,000 unemployed veterans.  “The veteran unemployment rate is dropping, but 5.8 percent is still unacceptable,” Rep. Titus said. “We must work together -- government agencies, community organizations, and private businesses -- to help our nation’s heroes transition to civilian life and find good jobs that take advantage of and reward their training, skills, leadership qualities, and work ethic. In doing so, we will all benefit.”  Background:  According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there were 495,000 unemployed veterans in 2015 – with 7,000 residing in Nevada. The unemployment rate for veterans who served on active duty since September 2001 is currently at 5.8 percent of the workforce, a 1.4 percent drop from the previous year.  Event Details:  Time: 3 pm to 6 pm Date: July 21, 2016 Location: Vegas PBS, 3050 East Flamingo Road, Las Vegas, 89121 Participants:  Kathleen Taylor, VEDC Col.
