https://tokuda.house.gov/media/press-releases/rep-tokuda-votes-no-on-national-defense-authorization-act Rep. Tokuda Votes No on National Defense Authorization Act 2025-09-10 2025 2025-09 Democrat House HI Jill N. Tokuda T000487 tokuda.house.gov tokuda https://tokuda.house.gov/media/press-releases?PageNum_rs=3& scraper Washington, D.C. — Today, U.S. Representative Jill Tokuda (HI-02), member of the House Armed Services Committee, issued the following statement on the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2026, which passed the House of Representatives by a vote of 231-196. “When the Armed Services Committee reported out this year’s NDAA, it was a strong, bipartisan bill that included real investments in housing, healthcare, and national security that I was proud to support. But for the third year in a row, House Republicans have chosen to completely hijack this committee’s bipartisan work on the National Defense Authorization Act by forcing through divisive, poison pill provisions and shutting down debate on the issues that truly matter to our troops and veterans. I submitted ten amendments focused on improving national security and the quality of life of our service members, such as strengthening military housing, standing up to China, supporting Native Hawaiian veterans, and holding sexual predators accountable. Not one made it in. This isn’t just a procedural failure, it’s a betrayal of our oath, a failure of oversight, and a disservice to our service members and their families who rely on us to protect their interests. We owe them respect, integrity, and serious leadership—not political theatrics or culture-war stunts. I will continue fighting to retain the bipartisan provisions that we crafted to support our service members and their families while stripping out the dangerous partisan amendments that have no place in a bill this critical to our national defense.” Footage of Rep. Tokuda discussing the bill on the House Floor can be viewed here. ### 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T19:10:29Z
