Tonko cheered the transformational investments the legislation has delivered to the Capital Region. “One year ago today, I stood alongside my colleagues at the White House as President Biden signed the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act into law” Congressman Tonko said. “This meaningful legislation tackled some of our nation’s most pressing infrastructure needs—devoting significant funding to fix our roads and bridges, upgrade transit systems and pedestrian infrastructure, expand broadband access, build out electric vehicle charging stations, and finally remove lead pipes that poison our children. Today, that investment is making a positive difference in the daily lives of those I serve in the Capital Region and across the nation.” Tonko continued, “I was also deeply moved to finally see our limo safety package signed into law as part of this monumental legislation. For years, I pushed for these national safety measures alongside the families of those lost in the devastating Schoharie limo crash. Thanks to the relentless dedication and courage of those families, our lifesaving package was made law.” Along with implementing lifesaving limo provisions, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law has invested boldly in EV infrastructure and fostering a clean energy transition, ensuring clean drinking water for every child, delivering affordable, reliable internet to underserved communities, and so much more. BIL investments have already arrived in the Capital Region, including: $25.4 million to the Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) to expand its fleet of electric buses and develop its charging infrastructure $69.6 million to New York from EPA’s Clean School Bus Program, including $305,000 to purchase an electric school bus for Duanesburg Central School District $2,925,000 to the City of Mechanicville in financial assistance for water infrastructure improvement projects and $616,492 Drinking Water State Revolving Fund grant to connect the city to the Saratoga County Water Authority system $5,568,2445 for Albany International Airport $427 million to repair and replace New York’s water infrastructure Nearly $409 million to repair New York bridges ### 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-08T03:24:37Z
