Trott: Currency Manipulation Protections a Win for Southeast Michigan 2015-12-11 2015 2015-12 Republican House MI Dave Trott T000475 trott.house.gov     legacy WASHINGTON, DC: U.S. Representative Dave Trott (MI-11) today voted in support of legislation designed to enforce American trade laws, remove barriers to legitimate trade, and help small businesses grow and create jobs. Rep. Trott was instrumental in securing stronger currency manipulation protections in the legislation to help protect Michigan businesses and Americas automotive industry. "We can grow Southeast Michigans economy by opening up new markets around worldbut its critical that Congress cracks down on currency manipulation and allows Michigan products and services to compete on a level playing field. We want to see America set the rules, not countries like China that unfairly manipulate their currency. Currency manipulation puts our workers at a competitive disadvantage, so its a big win for Southeast Michigan to have stronger safeguards added to this important legislation, said Rep. Trott, a lifelong resident of Southeast Michigan who created 1,800 jobs during his career in business. Rep. Trotts currency manipulation protections included in the legislation provide for enhanced reporting and analysis through bilateral engagement, giving the United States a platform to urge implementation of policies to address currency manipulation and develop plans with specific actions to address undervaluation and surplus. This measure includes strong remedial actions for failure to address these issues, including restricted procurement and investment with violating countries, raising the issue with the International Monetary Fund, and taking these failures into account when assessing a potential trade partnership. 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
