Clay Higgins | 2024-09-25 | 2024 | 2024-09 | Democrat | House | LA | Troy A. Carter | C001125 | troycarter.house.gov | troycarter | https://troycarter.house.gov/media/press-releases | scraper | WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Troy A. Carter Sr. (D-LA) released the following statement in response to racist remarks posted by Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) on Twitter: “I am appalled by the racist and reprehensible remarks made by Rep. Clay Higgins about the Haitian people. We all owe each other better than this, but as elected officials we should hold ourselves to an even higher standard. We have a solemn responsibility to represent and respect all races of people. Hate-filled rhetoric like this is not just offensive—it is dangerous. It incites division, perpetuates harmful stereotypes, and undermines the core values of our democracy.” ### | 1 | 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z | 2026-04-07T21:43:57Z |
