Congresswoman Tsongas questioned witnesses on how the Pentagon can leverage high-tech regions to partner with the government in financing and producing the next-generation technology needed for our servicemembers to best meet future challenges. Hanscom Air Force Base is situated in a dense cluster of world-class academic institutions, advanced industry partners, and two of our nation’s leading federally funded research and development centers. This unique ecosystem has led to the development of some of the Department of Defense’s world-class radar and surveillance capabilities. Additionally, Hanscom AFB oversees cyber acquisition, which is a new and complex threat that requires cutting edge advancements. Massachusetts continues to invest in some of the best cyber minds and resources in the world. Combined with the talented workforce at Hanscom, this partnership will provide long term value in confronting our cyber challenges.
