https://vantaylor.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=2468 Congressman Van Taylor Releases Statement Following Impeachment Vote 2019-12-18 2019 2019-12 Republican House TX Van Taylor T000479 vantaylor.house.gov     legacy Congressman Van Taylor voted against H.Res. 755, a resolution impeaching the President. share: f t WASHINGTON - Today, the United States House of Representatives voted on H.Res. 755, a resolution impeaching Donald John Trump, President of the United States. After voting against both articles of impeachment, United States Congressman Van Taylor issued the following statement: "Since taking the majority in January, some House Democrats have set their sights on impeaching the President resulting in an incredibly partisan impeachment process with a predetermined outcome despite an ever-changing set of accusations. This process ignored historical precedent, disregarded due process, and trampled over nearly every judicial standard we hold sacred as Americans.Less than a year away from a Presidential election is not the time for 435 politicians to override the will of the American people, nullifying millions of votes, and remove a President who some in the opposing political party disagree with.Outside of declaring war, voting to impeach a duly elected President of the United States is the most serious vote a Member of Congress can take, and I have yet to see anything that rises to the level of impeachment. Both articles of impeachment passed along mostly party lines. Article I passed by a vote of 230-197-1 with 2 Democrats joining Republicans to vote against impeachment. Article II passed 229-198-1 with 3 Democrats voting against impeachment on Wednesday, December 18, 2019. Adoption of the Articles of Impeachment trigger an impeachment trial in the Senate.A 7th generation Texan, Congressman Van Taylor is a dedicated family man, successful businessman, and decorated Marine Officer. Taylor served Collin County both in the Texas House of Representatives and Texas Senate. Today, Congressman Taylor is proud to serve on the House Committee on Education and Labor as well as the House Committee on Homeland Security. 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
