With countries like Russia, China, and Iran attempting to take advantage of instability around the globe to consolidate their own powers, it is critical we support our troops, strengthen our nuclear deterrence, and ensure our national security apparatus remains ready to counter bad actors worldwide. We also provide a pay raise for our troops who sacrifice for our freedoms. I fought to include several items in the NDAA that will support a strong national security and four of my priorities were ultimately included in the final bill. For years in Congress, I have advocated for our Super Hornet Fighters made here in St. Louis as an essential part of our warfighting capability. Eight of these vital Super Hornet fighters were included in the NDAA, supporting thousands of local jobs and our continued national security, and I will keep fighting on their behalf. “Also included is my Isolate Russian Government Officials Act, legislation that will exclude Russian officials from major financial and intergovernmental forums during their unjust war against Ukraine. My DEFEND Act, legislation that will help our Middle Eastern partners build an integrated air and missile defense capacity to deter Iran, is also a part of the package, as well as legislation to appropriately honor Ulysses S.
