We visited South and West Washtenaw Consortium, a career and technical education program based at Saline High School and open to students from Manchester, Chelsea, Dexter, Lincoln, Saline, and Milan. We also saw stopped by Adrian College and discussed the school's innovative partnership with Google that prepares students for in-demand careers. With a growing economy, it is critical to offer several pathways to the more than 7 million jobs that are currently unfilled. Passing the USMCA As part of Secretary Scalia's tour of our district, we also met with workers at a manufacturing facility in Jackson, and held a roundtable with local education and business leaders. Enacting better trade policies like the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement(USMCA)will boost Michigan's manufacturing and agriculture sectors and continue the economic momentum we have seen in recent years. An Update on Impeachment After another week of partisan impeachment hearings, what have we learned? Not much at all. Certainly nothing close to justify impeachment. Let's get back to work on behalf of the American people and work on passing USMCA, advancing a pro-job economy, securing our border, and lowering drug prices. Advancing American Wireless Leadership The Energy and Commerce Committee this past weekunanimously advanced my bipartisan bill, the Promoting U.S. Wireless Leadership Act. As co-chair of the Congressional 5G Caucus, I am working to ensure the United States leads the world in the innovation of 5G networks.This legislation reflects the need for a unified approach to pushing back against international competitors like Russia and China to protect U.S. national security, global competitiveness, and cost-effectiveness of wireless communications. Combating the Opioid Crisis This past week, I had a particularly special group, the Risner family from Jackson, come visit our nation's capital. One year later, I am still deeply saddened by the loss of my good friend, Christopher Risner. He bravely shared his struggle with addiction to help others, and now we continue on his legacy fighting the opioid crisis. We recently celebrated the 1-year anniversary of the SUPPORT Act's signing, and while we've started to see encouraging signs, we must continue our efforts on all levels of government and in our communities to eradicate this epidemic. | 1 | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z |
