The funding is a part of the 2019 Rural Communities Opioid Response Program and will help strengthen and expand substance use disorder (SUD) prevention, treatment, and recovery services in rural areas of eastern Oregon. We all know someone that has been impacted by the opioid crisis, said Walden. Here in eastern Oregon, we have seen too many lives lost to substanceuse disorderand it is going to take a team effort to put a stop to the crisis. I'm glad to hear that the Oregon Washington Health Network is receiving one of the grants for the Rural Community Opioid Response Program. This funding is going to help the entire rural community by enabling the local health network to implement activities to increase prevention, treatment, and recovery. This is just one of the many ways we are working to stop the opioid crisis and I will continue to do everything I can to put an end to this epidemic. Walden has been one of the nation's leaders in combating the opioid crisis, working to pass historic legislation to combat the abuse of opioids, and investigating bad actors who are enabling the crisis to spread.
