Greg Walden (R-Ore.) questioned Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius about failures in the implementation and launch of the new health care law at a hearing of the House Energy and Commerce Committee. Following up on his line of questioning to healthcare.gov contractors last week, Walden asked Sebelius about assurances that HHS was extremely confident that the healthcare.gov marketplace would open on schedule on October 1, despite a lack of end to end testing. Sec. Sebelius admitted such testing was not adequately performed before launch. Walden also asked Sec. Sebelius about how HHS had written rules about existing insurance plans in such a way that forced countless Americans off their plans. He told her of constituents from around Oregon's Second District who have received letters from insurance companies saying that their plan has been cancelled due to the Affordable Care Act.
