U.S. Representative Mark Walker (R-N.C.) announced that he has nominated 15 North Carolina high school students for appointment to one of the United States' service academies the U.S. Air Force Academy, the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, and the U.S. Naval Academy for the Class of 2025. The Sixth District's Service Academy Nomination Board, appointed by Walker, conducted interviews with each of the applicants and made recommendations based on their qualifications. This year's service academy nominees are an outstanding class of young North Carolinians who embody our state's values of high character, scholarship, and leadership, Walker said. Their inspiring pursuit of service to our nation can never be thanked enough and I am humbled to be a small part of their journey. I wish the students the best as they seek acceptance in their respective institutions. Next, the students will seek to meet the admission requirements of their service academy, which will make the final decision on admission in the early months of 2021. Each student who attends a service academy will make a commitment to serve in the military for a minimum of five years upon graduation.
