Each month, Rep. Walker awards a constituent, business, or organization in his district for displaying extraordinary acts of service and for making a difference in the lives around them. Greensboros Wanda Curley, an Autism Resource Specialist with the Autism Society of North Carolina, was selected as the December Community Hero of the Month. Whether it is hosting support groups, educating the public, or lending her expertise to parents of children with autism, Wanda Curley is a prime example of what it means to truly make a difference in our community, Walker said. Im inspired by her dedication to empowering and educating families who are part of the autism community, Walker added. Curly is the parent of an adult child with autism. She began working with the Autism Society of North Carolina as a local leader in Guilford County. Her role now includes direct support to families and professionals across the region.
