Congresswoman Jackie Walorski released the following statement in response to a report released by the Department of Health and Human Services this afternoon stating only 701 Hoosiers have successfully selected insurance plans through the health care exchange website: The writing is on the wall with Obamacare. So far, a mere two percent of Hoosier applicants have selected an insurance plan through the health care exchange website. This report does not specify how many individuals have actually purchased these selected plans. After years of preparation, this is simply unacceptable to our families. I continue to hear troubling stories from many Hoosiers about website malfunctions, cancelled insurance plans, increased premiums, and employer cutsall because of Obamacare. Especially as we enter the holiday season, this is truly unfair to our hardworking families. Since November 2nd, at least 108,000 Hoosiers have received notices that their current insurance plans will be discontinued due to new regulations in the health care law. Alternative options are often unaffordable and limit care options, preventing Hoosiers from securing the health care plans they need. It is time for the president to look at the facts and put a stop to harmful policies that are creating real hardship for our families.
