Mimi Walters (R-California) announced the winner of the 2017 Congressional App Challenge for California’s 45th Congressional District. The Congressional App Challenge is an annual event to encourage high school students to pursue a career in STEM fields. The winners were selected by a panel of educators in Orange County who specialize in computer science and innovation. Said Rep. Walters, “Orange County is home to some of the best and brightest students in our Nation. The Congressional App Challenge highlights the incredible strides that students in the 45th district have made in computer science and mobile technology. I am impressed year after year with the remarkable submissions my office receives. “I am proud to announce that this year’s winner is Sishir Giri from Tustin High School, and his app called ‘Helpindesk.’ Shishir, who came in third place in 2016’s Challenge, was able to successfully tackle a common problem for many students – access to quick and concise answers on subject matter while outside of the classroom. “I congratulate Shishir, and all who participated in this year’s Challenge, for their incredible work and innovative apps!” 2017 Congressional App Challenge Winner, Sishir Giri Second place in the 2017 Congressional App Challenge is awarded to Patrick Liu, from University High School in Irvine. His app, iCordisX, is a user-driven data-receiver for personalized cardiac monitoring. Third place is awarded to the team of Steven Li, Brian Kim, and Michael Yu, of University High School in Irvine.
