Mimi Walters: FY18 NDAA Strengthens Our Military & Cares for Our Troops Washington, DC – Representative Mimi Walters (R-California) released the following statement after the Fiscal Year 2018 National Defense Authorization Act (FY18 NDAA) was signed into law. Said Rep. Walters, “The United States faces a growing number of national security threats from terrorist organizations and rogue nations. To counter these threats our military must have the tools and resources to carry out their mission. The FY18 NDAA addresses these needs by improving readiness and capabilities of our troops. “Under this new law, increased investments in military equipment and capabilities will help deter and defeat overseas threats. Specifically, this law provides for improved missile defense systems that will help shield Orange County from North Korean aggression. The FY18 NDAA also supports our brave men and women in uniform, who will receive a 2.4% pay raise, the largest in eight years, and have expanded access to health care services. Additionally, the FY18 NDAA assists the families of the fallen by permanently preserving the allowance for surviving spouses. “The FY18 NDAA rebuilds our military after years of cuts and provides for troops protecting us around the globe.
