Mimi Walters on Long-Term Highway Bill 2015-12-03 2015 2015-12 Republican House CA Mimi Walters W000820 walters.house.gov     legacy Washington, D.C. U.S. Representatives Mimi Walters (CA-45) today released the following statement after voting in support of the Conference Report for the Fixing Americas Surface Transportation (FAST) Act. Click the picture above to see Rep. Walters speak on the FAST Act on the House floor Said Rep. Mimi Walters, Mister Speaker, I rise today in support of the Conference Report for the FAST Act. As a member of House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, I am pleased this bill reflects the Committees hard work. This legislation makes a fundamental investment in our nations roads, bridges, and infrastructure - providing long-term certainty for local governments and ensuring the efficient movement of consumer goods. Importantly, it also streamlines the environmental review and permitting processes to ensure transportation projects stay on time and on budget. I was pleased that three provisions of significance to my district were included in the final bill one directs DOT to study the effects of marijuana impaired driving; the second would incentivize the use of innovative pavement material; and the third would help address congestion in HOV lanes. This five-year bill is fully paid for, and will put a stop to short-term extensions that are costly to taxpayers and create significant uncertainty for local and state governments. Im pleased to support this historic bill coming before the House floor today and I thank Chairman Shuster for his hard work in making this bill a reality. I yield back. Walters represents Californias 45th District and sits on the House Transportation and Infrastructure and Judiciary Committees. ### 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
