The Safe Street and Roads for All Grant was included in the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (also known as the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law) passed by Congress and signed by President Biden in 2021. “I’m pleased to announce the awarding of $400,000 in grants to support Plainfield's Roadway Safety Action Plan,” said Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman. “This significant funding will play a crucial role in enhancing the safety and infrastructure of the city's roadways improving safety for pedestrians, motorists, and its residents. "We are thrilled to announce the receipt of $400,000 in Department of Transportation funding for our City’s Roadway Safety Action Plan,” said Plainfield Mayor Adrian O. Mapp. “This substantial grant represents not just a financial boost but a significant step forward in our ongoing commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of all Plainfield residents. With these funds, we will develop a comprehensive safety action plan, focusing on making our roads safer for drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists alike. This project is not just about infrastructure; it's about creating a safer, more connected community.
