While I am pleased to hear of her return, she never should have been detained in the first place. “Brittney Griner was in Russia to supplement her income as a professional athlete. If there were equity and fairness between men’s and women’s basketball in our country, she never would have been in that situation. From the office to the basketball court, women deserve equal pay for equal work. “The day we are celebrating is a long-awaited one. I wish peace and health this holiday season for Brittney, her wife, and her family. “As we celebrate Brittney Griner’s release, we must not forget that Paul Whelan remains wrongfully detained in Russia.
