Following the tour of the Jamestown Station, Congressman Reed, state, local and railroad officials traveled by train to the bridge repair site near Falconer. “Our aging infrastructure and transportation systems deserve careful consideration as taxpayers receive a direct return from these kinds of investments,” Congressman Reed said. “My experiences, especially as Mayor of Corning, showed me the impact that quality infrastructure can have on economic development and through the jobs supported by short line freight.” The bridge restoration, a project supported by Congressman Reed, alleviates the previous weight restriction placed on the railroad. For the first time since the railroad was build in 1852, shippers in the City of Jamestown are able to receive 286,000 pound cars, the rail industry standard. State grants covered half of the restoration costs and a tax credit co-sponsored by Reed covered the balance of the project. “What we’re seeing with the bridge improvement project is an example of a successful partnership among federal, state and private resources coming together for public good,” Reed continued. “It’s a partnership I’m proud to be a part of.” Having previously served on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee in the House of Representatives, Congressman Reed continues to look for ways to partner federal, state and private support to promote safe, reliable transportation and infrastructure is available to commercial enterprises and taxpayer travel. ##### 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
