Grace F. Napolitano (CA-32) hosted a free healthcare enrollment event for residents of the 32nd District to sign up for health coverage through Covered California or Medi-Cal. The event was held at Lambert Park Auditorium in El Monte. “It is wonderful to be here, and I want to express my gratitude to the city of El Monte and all the staff that helped put this together,” Napolitano said. “The last day to enroll is December 23, so be sure to remind your family, friends, and neighbors so that they are covered. We are encouraged by today’s attendance, and we will continue to hold events to connect constituents with service providers.” Special guest California State Senator Ed Hernandez (SD-24) joined Congresswoman Napolitano in El Monte to encourage enrollment in healthcare. “It is great to work with Congresswoman Napolitano to make these services available to our constituents,” said Senator Hernandez. “We are here today to help you sign up for coverage. Do not be afraid of signing up. This is something that is very important. Utilize these healthcare services and ask questions.” 12 Covered California certified enrollment counselors from the Community Health Alliance of Pasadena (ChapCare) and L.A. Care Health Plan registered more than 40 families from the 32nd District and surrounding area for health coverage. December 23, 2013 is the last day to sign up at Covered California in order for health insurance to begin by January 1, 2014.
