Way Station, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing compassionate and quality behavioral health care, housing and employment services to people across our community, including veterans. The grant, awarded by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), is part of $4.9 million in recently released grants to provide enhanced services for homeless Veterans this year. “Way Station, Inc. is on the front line of helping to combat this issue, and I’m pleased to announce that the VA has recognized their important work and provided them with additional resources,” said Congressman Van Hollen. “The brave men and women of our Armed Forces sacrifice so much for our country, and we must do everything we can to care of our veterans when they come home. Although we’ve made progress in tackling this problem, there is clearly more work to be done.” On a single night in January 2012, a national count of homeless veterans totaled 62,619. To help a homeless Veteran or Veteran at risk of homelessness, refer them to the National Call Center for Homeless Veterans, 1-877-4AID-VET, or direct them to www.va.gov/homeless.
