https://web.archive.org/web/20140221011950/http://farenthold.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=364787 U.S. Congressman Blake Farenthold Cosponsors Two Bills to Eliminate Cuts to Military Retirement Payments 2013-12-18 2013 2013-12 Republican House TX Blake Farenthold F000460 web.archive.org     legacy Today, U.S. Congressman Blake Farenthold (TX-27) cosponsored two pieces of legislation to eliminate cuts to military retirement payments included in the Bipartisan Budget Act.  “We cannot balance our budget on the backs of our military retirees,” said Congressman Farenthold.  “Our veterans fought hard to protect our freedom, and we must ensure they receive the retirement benefits they’ve earned.”  The first measure would completely strike Section 403 of the Budget Act to eliminate any cuts to Cost of Living Adjustments (COLAs) attached to military retirement payments brought about by the Bipartisan Budget Act.  The second measure would simply clarify and exempt all veterans who medically retire, those who receive Combat Related Specialty Compensation (CRSC), and those who receive Concurrent Receipt Pay (CRDP).  The intent of the bill is to exempt all disabled veterans from the impact of Section 403 on their disability pension.  While the House-passed Budget measure does not affect VA disability compensation, it still affects disabled veterans who receive pay under the Department of Defense.  Both measures will be introduced tomorrow when the House of Representatives is in Pro Forma Session.  The bills will be considered when the House reconvenes in early January 2014. 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
