Levin, Portman in Leading Senate Auto Caucus 2013-11-22 2013 2013-11 Democrat House OH Sherrod Brown B000944 web.archive.org     legacy Brown Named Co-Vice-Chair of Senate Auto Caucus; Supported Auto Rescue that Helped Save Industry Friday, November 22, 2013 WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced that he has been named Co-Vice-Chair of the Senate Auto Caucus, a bipartisan group to promote auto companies and workers. Following the announcement, Brown offered the following statement: “The strength of the American worker is exemplified by our country’s auto industry. Once on the brink, the American auto industry is now booming because our workers’ perseverance and skill let the auto rescue achieve its goal of saving jobs and creating more. That is why I am honored to serve as Vice-Chair of the Senate Auto Caucus. And I am proud that one in every eight Ohio jobs is connected to the auto industry, and one in every six cars produced in the United States is made in Ohio.”  Brown has long been a champion for Ohio’s auto workers. In early 2009 Brown was a strong advocate for the American auto rescue. In November 2008, he introduced S. 3175, the Auto Industry Emergency Bridge Loan Act, with a bipartisan group of colleagues. In December 2008, Brown fought to ensure that funds from the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) were allocated to aid the Big 3 and American auto suppliers—despite near-unanimous opposition from House and Senate Republicans. One in every eight Ohio jobs is connected to the auto industry; one in every six cars produced in the United States is made in Ohio; and 80 of Ohio’s 88 counties are home to an auto manufacturing facility.   ### 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
