The safety of airplanes or federal buildings or similar places would be threatened if their metal detectors could not identify guns. The only way to make sure the current prohibition of plastic guns remained in place was for the Senate to pass the 10-year extension cleared last week by the House. “It’s unfortunate that politics have been played with this law. If the majority wanted to change the law, there should have been hearings and an attempt to learn the evolving technology. Instead, at the last minute the Senate Majority attempted to force changes by ramming through legislation that was only revealed today.
