Res. 84, the Head Start for Low Income Children Act, which provides immediate funding for the Head Start program. This is the latest of ten separate bills passed by the House which provide immediate funding for key functions of the federal government. “The House is taking commonsense steps to reboot key functions of our federal government,” said Pearce, “from allowing our nations veterans to visit open air war memorials and museums to providing vital services and benefits for America’s veterans and most vulnerable. But again and again, these proposals have been inexplicably blocked by the Democrat-controlled Senate, and have been threatened with vetoes by the President. Americans expect better: the House is working to protect the parts of our government that America needs most. Why do the Senate and the President refuse to negotiate, even on the simple issues we can all agree on?” Congressman Pearce voted with the House four times to prevent a shutdown, each time making greater concessions and expressing a willingness to negotiate. Since then, the House has passed nine separate bills that provide immediate funding for key functions of the federal government, which have been blocked by the Democrat-controlled Senate, and met with veto threats from the President: to open our national parks and museums, to allow Washington, DC to continue operating using its own funding, to fund the lifesaving medical research at the National Institute of Health, to pay our National Guard and Reserve, to restore key funding for veterans’ benefits and services, to fund FEMA, to provide nutrition assistance for low-income women and children, and to fund the Food and Drug Administration. ### | 1 | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z |
