As a visionary leader he strived to eliminate racism, poverty and inequality within South Africa.  Mandela will be remembered as being the “father of democracy” in South Africa and as a leader who always put his country ahead of himself; his legacy will live on in the hearts through his charitable funds and foundations. I join the people of South Africa, along with others around the world, in honoring the life and legacy of Nelson Mandela- and in doing so, offer my sincerest condolences to his family and his country. ### Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick is serving his third term in the U.S. House of Representatives. He represents Pennsylvania’s 8th district which includes all of Bucks County as well as a portion of Montgomery County. He serves as the Vice Chairman of the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations. 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
