The Manufacturing Jobs for America agenda will build on bipartisan support for legislation to help modernize America's manufacturing sector, help manufacturers grow and create jobs, end loopholes for companies that ship jobs overseas and help workers get the skills they need for the jobs of the future. "When we make things here and grow things here, we create jobs here," said Stabenow. "Manufacturing is the backbone of the middle class and our economy. Manufacturing is leading our economic recovery, and no state has added more manufacturing jobs in the last few years than Michigan. Instead of manufacturing crises, Congress needs to work together to create manufacturing jobs." The initiative includes three provisions authored by Sen. Stabenow. • Bring Jobs Home Act, introduced last year, ends a tax loophole for corporations that send jobs overseas and cuts taxes for businesses that move jobs and business activity to America from another country. • New Skills for New Jobs Act that builds on successful efforts in Michigan and other states that are helping community colleges partner with local businesses to provide training to workers to new high-skilled jobs. • Make It in America (48C) tax credit, to provide businesses with up to a 30 percent tax cut to produce clean energy technologies such as solar panels, wind turbines, advanced batteries and biobased products manufactured here at home.
