Issues Key Issues Legislation News News Biography Press Kit Contact Contact Newsletter Sign Up Biography About Debbie Photo Gallery Committee Assignments Senators Stabenow, Levin Announce Support for I-96 Trade Corridor U.S. Senators Debbie Stabenow and Carl Levin today announced a federal grant from the Economic Development Administration that will support the creation of an economic development roadmap for the I-69 corridor in Genesee, Lapeer, Shiawassee and St. Clair counties. "I commend these communities for their efforts to attract new investment and jobs through this model regional effort," said Stabenow. "This support will help the region export more products and create new jobs." "Planning for a diverse and vibrant economy takes vision and tenacity," said Levin. "This grant will help bring together the key players to work on a plan to grow the economy along the I-69 corridor in Genesee, Lapeer, Shiawassee and St. Clair counties that will benefit the entire region." The EDA investment of $70,000 will be used to develop a regional recovery strategy and cluster analysis for the I-69 Trade Corridor. The Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy will bring together the public and private sectors to design an economic development plan to diversify and strengthen the regional economy.
